They even have sample images to play around with!
Do you fancy yourself to be a bit of an amateur photog? Taking and displaying captivating photos of your blog topic is one of the easiest ways to capture a visitors attention immediately and pull them into your text.
We’ve all seen the blogs with the breathtaking photos, whether that’s food photography, nature, urban life or street portraits, we all have those favorite images that memorize us and our readers do too.
With the advent of Instagr.am, people all over (with iPhones) could take really fantastic images and add another layer of drama and interest to their blog even if they weren’t highly trained photographers.
But what if you don’t have an iPhone, or have no desire to shell out the 100′s of dollars to buy (or learn to use) Photoshop? What do us mere mortals do to pep up our blog photos while we’re learning?
Well, we could use Pixlr.
A web based app that can be downloaded, used on Facebook or downloaded to your phone. There are a lot of cool things you can do with Pixlr and we’ll go through the slideshow in a minute but one of the biggest bonuses? Time. Editing your photos with Pixlr takes minutes which is a must for you busy bloggers.
Here’s a bit of what it can do…

Load image into the "developing bowl"

Pick a Filter (or choose to leave the image and only apply other effects)

Choose a special effect to overlay on your image (or leave out)

Select a frame that compliments your photo

Choose another

Final Product!
From start to finish it took about 3 minutes with a coffee break in there.
I especially love that you can add just filters, effects or frames or combine them together to get the look you want. This is very handy if you don’t want to change the mood of a photo but a dramatic border will provide much needed pizzazz to a otherwise ordinary photo.
Have fun creating!
